I study the relation of language and thought - exploring whether universals of cognition shape all languages, and whether speakers of different languages think differently. I often use computational methods.

Current interests: how language affects perception; color naming and cognition; universals and malleability in spatial language, word learning and language learning generally.

I am a member of the Spatial Intelligence and Learning Center (SILC).

I will be on leave at UC Berkeley for the 2008-09 academic year.
